Terms of Service
Welcome to EthiopicAI (“Company,” “we,” “our”). These Terms govern your access to our website, APIs, mobile apps, and AI services (“Services”). By continuing to use the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you disagree, discontinue use immediately.
The Terms incorporate Ethiopia-specific legal requirements so that builders can rely on EthiopicAI for compliant deployments.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old or otherwise capable of entering binding agreements under the Ethiopian Civil Code (1960). Minors may only use the Services under supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
2. Use of the Services
You agree to use the Services lawfully and responsibly according to Ethiopian law and these Terms. You may not:
- Operate unlawful, defamatory, harmful, or fraudulent activities.
- Generate content that violates Ethiopian laws, including hate speech, discrimination, incitement, or misinformation.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer or misuse our models, APIs, or systems.
- Access data or accounts without authorization.
We may suspend or terminate access for violations.
3. Accounts & Security
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your account credentials secure.
- All activity under your account.
- Notifying us immediately of unauthorized access.
We may require identity verification in accordance with Ethiopian electronic transactions norms.
4. User Data & Privacy
We handle data according to Ethiopian legal frameworks, including:
- Personal Data Protection requirements (based on Ethiopia’s draft Data Protection Proclamation and global best practices).
- Cybercrime Proclamation No. 958/2016.
- Electronic Transactions Proclamation No. 1205/2020.
By using the Services, you consent to:
- The collection and processing of personal data for operations.
- Secure storage and handling of data within Ethiopia or permitted cloud regions.
- Use of de-identified or aggregated data to improve AI models.
5. Intellectual Property
All AI models, datasets, software, graphics, branding, and content produced by our systems are property of EthiopicAI or our licensors under the Ethiopian Copyright and Related Rights Proclamation No. 410/2004. You receive a limited, revocable license to use the Services. The license does not transfer ownership.
6. User Content
You retain ownership of your input (“User Content”) and grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to:
- Process the content,
- Store it securely,
- Use it to operate, maintain, and improve our Services.
You are responsible for ensuring your content does not violate Ethiopian law, third-party rights, privacy, or IP protections.
7. Service Availability
We aim to provide reliable services but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free performance, or accuracy of AI outputs. We may modify or discontinue features without notice.
8. Payments & Billing
For paid features, you agree to the posted pricing, local currency billing (ETB) unless otherwise specified, and compliance with Ethiopian tax requirements (including VAT where applicable). All fees are non-refundable unless stated otherwise.
9. Disclaimers
The Services are provided “as-is” without warranties of any kind. AI-generated outputs may contain errors or biases. You use them at your own risk. To the extent permitted under Ethiopian law, we disclaim liability for accuracy of outputs, losses from reliance on the content, and indirect or consequential damages.
10. Limitation of Liability
Under Ethiopian Civil Code liability principles, EthiopicAI is not liable for loss of profits, revenue, or data, or indirect or incidental damages. Total liability is limited to the amount paid for the Services in the prior 12 months.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, misuse our systems, or when required by Ethiopian regulators or law enforcement. You may stop using the Services at any time.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms periodically. Continued use of the Services after changes means you accept the new Terms.
13. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Disputes will be resolved through good-faith negotiation, mediation or arbitration under Ethiopian law, and litigation in the competent Federal Courts of Ethiopia if necessary.
